.
For years, the Stokes' Law gravity
separator and the Coalescing-
medium
enhanced Stokes separator were the only
choices. When
EPSI introduced its
Liquid/Liquid extraction separator in
1995, a
patent office examiner official
commented that it was the first real
innovation in this field in 40 years.
Unlike the older separators that
could
only remove free/not emulsified oils, the EPSI separator
can absorb most emulsion,
complex heavy metal, TSS, and many
other contaminants.

Liquid/Liquid
extraction separators are available in
flow
rates
from 1 to 50 GPM. All are
competitively priced and
guaranteed!
All have low maintenance requirements
and
operate automatically.
Liquid/Liquid extraction separators
reduce post equipment cost
and reduces polymer cost
when chemical
precipitation is required.
How Does
it WORK?
Water is pumped by AOD pump, (air
operated diaphragm), through flow control
valve.
Water then rises through.
This is a solids impedance and
coalescing honeycomb pack. The upward motion
of the very fine solids are
reversed as they rise through the pack.
Wastewater is then sent over a diffuser
plate.
This breaks the stream into many small
streams approximately 5/32" in diameter.
These streams labor through
the JT 57 Liquid Filter Media.
This absorbs oils and greases, extracts
most complex heavy metals, suspended solids, BTEX, PCB's and
many other contaminants. An inverted weir
then channels the water up though a second
honeycomb pack,
where any trace oil will be coalesced and
float to the top.
Water then travels over and under three
flow directional weirs and water is
discharged from bottom of the last
chamber. The oil skimmers.
Are set to skim off tramp oil depositing
it to an external oil storage container.
Visual and audible high level,
tramp oil alarm is optional.
What sets this system apart from
ordinary oil water separators? The action of
the Liquid/Liquid extractant, the
extended residence time and the geometry of
flow (directional) reversing the motion of the
water multiple
times. (Comparison -- Radio to Television).

Liquid/Liquid Extraction with JT-57, IT
WORKS!!
An oil-loving medium extracts free oils, many
emulsions and other contaminants from
wastewater. EPSI
has performed
extensive research and development to perfect
and patent this technology. We have
also
developed new Liquid
Extraction Medium, JT 57. This medium is a
special blend of solvent-de-
waxed paraffinic
hydrocarbons (like a liquid
candle without wax). JT 57 contains no detergents
(emulsifiers),
anti-wear agents (heavy metals)
or viscosity builders
(soaps), resulting in superior separation
qualities.
EPSI's proprietary pretreatment
systems employ patented features
which create optimum contact time
between
waste stream and
JT 57 medium.

Conventional Oil and Water Separator
EPSI Gravity and coalescing separators are
designed to facilitate removal of free oils,
greases, and settleable
solids. These separators employ twin
coalescing packs, longer residence time,
directs the waste stream
over and under 4 directional flow weirs for
superior performance. The OWS-GL series of
separators is
constructed of 7 gauge steel and coated inside
and out with a 3 part coal tar epoxy. These
separators
offer superior performance.
